PROJECTS

Blankets for Lepers
Leprosy is still a problem among the rural poor of India. Most of the Leper colonies are Church supported and provide food and housing and limited medical care. Blankets are a continuing need. These thick, braided blankets serve as the beds and personal space of the lepers, also providing warmth during the chill of the evenings. Sometimes they also serve as the workspace as the person does what they small labor they can to contribute to their own care. Each blanket greatly enhances the quality of life for a person who is in an otherwise desperate situation.

Blanket distributions are made twice a year to 4 different colonies. About 100 blankets are needed each year.

Jackets for Orphans

The Ministry supports several orphanages in Ukraine. Currently, there are over 600 orphans in these orphanages. Each fall, we get the call to provide 50-70 jackets. We get high-quality jackets that will take the children through many winters (and get successfully handed down as they are outgrown). Some of the jackets are supplied through the regular supporters of our orphanage work, but usually, there are needs substantially above the regular support. Most of the time, we need at least $2000 above the regular support to meet these needs.

The picture is from the first time we were asked to provide jackets. People like you have been faithful each year to help obtain the jackets that are needed. We buy the jackets from Christian vendors, so the Body of Christ benefits in 2 ways - by blessing the orphans and by blessing Christian businesses. Projects like these give us access to the orphanages to bring the Gospel message to the children. Many hundreds have come to know Christ as their savior over the years.

Mobile Clinic
The Ministry focuses on the people in rural areas who are forgotten by many others. In India, excellent health care is not accessible to the rural poor. We desire to take the care to the people.

Many people develop chronic conditions that remain undetected until they are beyond treatment. This is especially true for leprosy. With mobile clinics, we can reach the villages that are without doctors and detect and treat people while they are treatable. It can be a matter of life and death.

Even now, missionary doctors are in training to serve these people. A mobile clinic will greatly extend their effectiveness across an entire district.

Two mobile clinics are needed.

Purchase Church Properties - Kondrapadu

The missions of MATTHEW 25-India minister to people in very rural areas that have never known Christianity. Congregations are started as house churches. When they have outgrown their houses, we seek to purchase land and build a church building. These church buildings are multi-purpose designs that serve the entire community. They serve to anchor the congregation in the community.

The remote village of Kondrapadu has a well-established congregation which is already out-grown the house it meets in. We held a crusade in March 2010 that has resulted in marvellous growth. It is time to build the building.

Purchase Church Properties and Build a Church - Guntur

This project has a new urgency Although Guntur is a major city in Andhra Pradesh, this congregation is in a rural ooutskirt but the city is rapidly growing around it. In early 2010, there were only 45 members meeting in the courtyard of a home, but by mid-July, nearly 100 were attending. There is an increasing hunger for the Gospel in the immediate community. The small area they have to meet in is a deterrent to further growth.
The land near the city is much more expensive than in the farming areas. The church building will also serve as a community center and a vocational training center for micro-businesses undertaken by the congregation members.
The picture below is the congregation in February 2010. By December 2010, the congregation had doubled in size - no longer able to fit the courtyard where they had been meeting.
In 2012, the congregation has doubled again. The property for the church is purchased and the congregational members are working together to remove a small house and to build the building of their dreams. Sufficient funds have been received to complete the project. In addition, several members/neighbors have donated the use of a storage building that holds chairs and awnings so the congregation can meet in the roadway while the work on their building continues.

Sari Distribution
Making the equivalent of under $2 (US) per month. A quality sari that will endure the daily rigorous tasks costs over $25. So one piece of essential clothing costs a year's income. The Church provides saris to the poor women (and equivalent dress for poor men) on a regular basis. Over $2000 needs to be raised annually for this task. Many people have come to Christ through this ministry.

Vision for Africa
The Vision for Africa/John 17 African Vision

Islam is further encroaching into Africa because of weaknesses in the Church in Africa. John 17:20-23 emphasizes that unity in action of the Body of Christ is needed to have an effective witness that Jesus is Lord, sent from God the Father. If this unity can be achieved by all of the denominations and missions already working in the target areas, we feel affirmed by God that the resources are already available (or will be made available) to accomplish this vision.

By partnering with church groups in Northern Nigeria, Southern Sudan, and Tanzania, we hope to establish many more new churches, Christian schools, medical aid clinics, businesses, and other locals help to strengthen the Church and address the needs of the people through Christ.

One of the biggest needs is for full-testament Bibles to serve the churches, as the primary text for the schools, and for the guidance of both businesses and good medical practices. Over 25,000 Bible are needed in Tanzania alone.

DESCRIPTION:
The Vision for Africa/John 17 African Vision MATTHEW 25:34-40 Ministries has received a vision to help The Church in Africa. Where the Church is weak, Islam, Communism, and other anti-Christian religious philosophies grow; where the Church is strong, the Gospel of Christ advances to the benefit of all. The Church is weak in many places in Africa. Most areas are still dominated by animism or Islam. Many churches have been tainted by unsound doctrines and many have been evangelized but not discipled. Many of the local tribal languages do not have the full Bible text in their own tongue; fortunately, full-text Bibles do exist in all of the dominant trade languages.

A variety of diseases, especially HIV/AIDS, are rampant because of sexually promiscuous cultural practices. These practices persist even in areas where Christianity has been introduced because the Church has not been diligent to teach the principles of God’s Law as His good design for people’s lives. There are a large number of missions and missionary organizations in Africa, as well as some healthy denominations; however, their efforts are hampered by limited resources and fractured or partial ministries.

The Church in Africa needs to push back the advancing curtain of Islam. Substantial investment is being made in Africa by oil-enriched Islamic nations to plant mosques and schools.

The Organization of Islamic Conference has set a goal of making Africa the first 100% Islamic continent. The Islamic schools teach false anti-Christ doctrines that enslave the people. However, they are attractive since schools are often rare and expensive to attend when they are available. Furthermore, Islam attempts to dominate the existing business culture, ultimately controlling the local economy by intimidation if not in fact. People are taught that they are damned if they convert to Christianity from Islam, and converts are intimidated by force, even torture or death.

The vision we have received, based on John 17:20-23, is to form partnerships with those parts of the Body of Christ already established in Africa. By providing joint vision and coordinated goals, we will be able to stabilize the existing Church and to enable healthy, well-balanced indigenous congregations to effectively plant new congregations. In the process, the needs of many communities will be met for the first time, and the Name of Christ will be glorified. We have been shown that there are 3 critical leverage points for our efforts: Tanzania (East Africa), Southern Sudan (North Africa), and Nigeria (West Africa). These areas are already the focus of intense Islamic incursion, but resources and reliable organizations already exist in each area to serve as focal points. One organization, the East Africa Revival Network, is already doing an excellent job in East Africa. See http://www.earevival.org and read the news posts. This organization is using dedicated Christian evangelists from Rwanda to work in Tanzania. However, their work is limited in scope, although highly effective.

We see this organization as doing the “heavy lifting” in critical areas, allowing other organizations to back-fill and stabilize infrastructure and address less critical areas. What is MATTHEW 25:34-40 Ministries doing? 1. Helping organizations in Africa to get together for mutual cooperation and sharing the Vision. 2. Providing proven discipleship materials for translation into local languages. 3. Providing prayer support. 4. Suggesting curricula for use in local schools (associated with new church congregations). [We seek to found free schools associated with churches supported by businesses.] 5. Suggesting businesses that can supplement the income of local church members to make the congregation economically stable more rapidly. We may also help to establish some vocational schools to support the founding of these businesses. 6. Helping to provide full-testament Bibles and Audio Bibles.

We desire some of the full-testament Bibles to be bi-lingual for use in the schools, helping the students to become fluent in a trade language that will enhance their education. English is the most prevalent language in many of the targeted areas. 7. Helping to sink wells. Water is a huge issue in many areas. The availability of clean water for human consumption and irrigation is a huge boon to both the physical and economic health of the community. 8. Linking to short-term mission organizations for Church@Work opportunities. (Many Church@Work members have valuable engineering skills that could help with communications infrastructure, business opportunities, and construction projects.) Our vision includes a coordinated effort to revive established churches (enabling them to become church-planting churches), to plant new churches (especially in areas being “developed” by Islam), to establish free or affordable Christian schools based on the Bible (similar to the early education in the United States and including sound moral training), basic Christian medical clinics, and Christian businesses addressing needs in the local economy. In many areas, it is possible (but not affordable by locals) to drill wells to supply water. In most areas, the people are illiterate and need to be able to hear the Bible, but in all cases, Bibles are unaffordable to the vast majority of people. Moral instruction, discipleship, and leadership development cannot be done without the Bibles. Our vision includes: 5000 Biblically Healthy Well-Balanced Churches 1000++ Christian Schools (Bible as the local curriculum and offered as free education) 200 Christian Clinics (shelterized securable basic field clinics @ $125k each = $25,000,000) 500-1000 Christian Medical Assistance Centers (much less capable than a clinic, but able to provide basic first aid and moral medical advice to counter the ravages of AIDS). 10,000 Christian Businesses (micro-loan seed money) 2000 deep water wells (@2500 each = $5,000,000) 5000 Talking Bibles (@ $72 each = $360,000) ~250,000 Local Language-English Bibles (@ $8 each set = $2,000,000) ~500,000 Local language Bibles @ $4 each = $2,000,000 Leadership training @ $2k per leader = $10,000,000 (Note: most of this is an off-set to provide for the leader’s family while they are being trained and away from their family so the family will be cared for in his absence.

This is particularly critical to East Africa and Southern Sudan.) We dream of these goals to be fulfilled in about 5 years. We are undertaking projects to supply Bibles/Audio Bibles to the places most needed. We will also be glad to provide funds to fiscally responsible and doctrinally reliable organizations doing the work in the most critical areas at the moment.
